Grendon Hall is a fabulous hall dating from the 17th century when it was rebuilt by General Hatton Compton, although certain earlier parts date to the 1570s. Pevsner describes the east front as being "fine" quality. It is thought to be the work of John Lumley of Northampton. In WWII the hall was used by the SOE as a training camp for the Free French. Next to the present site of Grendon Hall, but on the other side of the brook is the site of a much earlier medieval manor house owned by Richard de Harrington, whose fish ponds remain today as part of the grounds of the present hall.In 1946, after the death of the then owner Miss Mundy, the hall was sold to the County Council. The hall was re-opened by the then Princess Elizabeth in 1946.

Ghosts of Grendon

Ghostly sightings at Grendon have been noted. A black shadow fiugre has been seen in the dorms, whilst a figure of a lady has been captured by us on camera outside in the side garden near to the entrance doorway into the hall. On past visits we have picked up a child spirit which communicated with us on our SLS camera and Echovox device. We have also made contact with more sinister entities which seem to push away other spirits and strongly control how they interact with us. We have a very creep and dark Class A EVP captured on camcorder in the larger rear garden which clearly say's a full sentence which appears to be in Latin. Aside from the ghosts which reside at the hall, in the past a lady has died after falling over the banister of the large stairway. Was she pushed? Did she commit suicide? Come and investigate this fascinating building with us to see if you can uncover/capture or see any of the paranormal phenomena existing within the premises.

Tea/coffee will be provided on the night! Teams are welcome to come along. We will investigate at a pace that suits your needs in groups as well as allowing you to go off on solo vigils. This location is very large with very large gardens to investigate also. We recommend you bring a torch as it is very dark outside and of course inside when the lights go out! This hall never lets anyone down, with 85 dorm beds alone, you can get an idea of the scale of size of this building!
